Detail of a statue representing a javelin thrower at the moment between run-up and the throw. The fist of glory points towards the setting sun. The javelin (spear) is missing and has been so for quite some time. The statue is located by a post-war sports arena and it was scultured by Kalervo Kallio (son of pre-war president of Finland) 1948-1952 and erected at the year of Helsinki Olympics 1952.
