Ponte Rotto, Rome, Italy Pons Aemilius was part of the Via Aurelia and connected Forum Boarium with the Trastevere in the 3rd century BC. The consul Publio Cornelio Scipione Emiliano reconstructed the bridge in 142 a.C. The bridge was still in use in the Middle Ages and it was destroyed by a flood in 1598. Some remaining structures were demolished and only one arch is left from the bridge.
