Frauenkirche Dresden

Rebuilt and opened last autumn. The original church fell after the bombing night in February 1945, the incredible firestorm was too much. A very sad chapter in the history of the whole mankind. After 1945 it was an anti-war memorial, mostly because the G.D.R. (East-Germany) couldn't afford the rebuilding and had probably no interest at all in churches. The darker stones are originals, the rest is replica.

About 4 stories up from the ground, I found a series of uglies on a building with a round area that butted out. There's 3 in this picture - one in copper that's very dark, and two over the windows that can be seen. Dec. 16, 2007 - Dresden Germany old town
