Bus Incredulity

Deb, what did I say / do to deserve this face? Tell me, I'm dying to know so I can say / do it all the time. Here we are on a bus ready to go to the beach. The ride is 6.5 hours and this bus' windows were sealed shut....because it has AIR CONDITIONING! Which actually means that the AC comes on every 30 minutes and chills the interior to just above freezing, then its shut off and the temperature climbs to just below boiling before the AC kicks in again. Its like having malaria.
El Panecillo

The big winged statue on the top of yonder hill is El Panecillo, a statue of (who else) the Virgin who watches over Quito. You can actually climb up inside it, Statue of Liberty style, but you don't get any little crown-hats to wear. Lame, I know. The View, however, is fantastic, especially at night as the old town lights come on.

The much-postponed dinner out with Canadian friends from the University finally happened last night. Anna-from-Canada (pictured here) suggested Vietnamese, but crowds sent us to India instead.
