The architectural firm of Martin, Byrnes, and Johnston designed this 1910 Beaux-Arts courthouse. The trees made it very difficult for me to photograph this courthouse, so I took this one standing as far away as I could get while I still had the largest view of this courthouse's front underneath the trees. The whole square has become a haven for squirrels; there are little wooden squirrel houses all over the trees.

This cornerstone says that this courthouse was architected by H. A. Overbeck. He was actually a man who worked for the firm of Martin, Byrnes & Johnston. The members of that firm are believed to have designed this courthouse. I think that's kind of funny.

Located across Broadway from the courthouse, this structure was formerly the Ware Hotel. My grandfather worked as the night clerk here during the summer of 1941 after graduating from Plainview High School before fighting over seas in World War II.
