Eglise Saint Salomon – Saint Grégoire à Pithiviers XIe, XIIe, XVe, XVIe,XVIIe siècle. We award traditionally the laying of first stone, in 1080, to the bishop of Orleans, Raynier of Flanders. Of this primitive church remain only the choir and the apse. Numerous destructions mark out the medieval history of the building. The necessity of endowing the city of a vaster church entails important works which will be spread out throughout the XVIth century. The western portal is executed, as those of the north and east, during the first half of the XVIIth century. The current steeple (83 meters), of metal structure, replaces that wooden which burned in 1853.
