Can anyone tell me what they are doing here. First they drilled holes and poured concrete in the holes and stuck in the vertical steel beams. After digging away the dirt the boards were put in. Now comes the part I don't understand. They drilled holes sideways into the bank. Looks like steel rods were inserted then some contraption placed on the steel rods.

I was on the 6th floor of Mechanical Engineering taking pictures of the CSR demolition and noticed a streetcar on the High Level bridge. The LRT is also crossing the river in this picture.
