L'Eglise Notre-Dame du Sablon
Made by Sean Munson
View from the Place du petit sablon. The copper statues on the park's perimeter represent the guilds of the city. The guild of crossbowmen paid for L'Eglise Notre-Dame du Sablon, which dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. A chapel previously existed existed at this site. In 1348, Beatrijs Soetkins had a vision in which Mary asked her to steal a statue from a church in Antwerp and bring it to the Sablon in Brussels. She did so, and the chapel became a pilgrimage destination. This prompted the guild's efforts to transform the chapel into the church it is today.

This is the Egmont Palace in Brussels, Belgium. I created this picture by taking three overlapping shots using a Canon Powershot S5 IS and stitched the images into one panorama using Hugin. A bigger version of this picture is available at www.weisserth.eu/singles.
