Last year marked the 60th anniversary of the victory over fascist Germany in what, in Russia, is known as the Great Patriotic War. I couldn't tell whether this was an officially sanctioned piece of artwork on the side of some kind of utility building, or just a bit of free expression on the part of local taggers (of which there are many), though if I had to bet, I'd bet the latter.

I decided to walk back to the apartment, figuring the bus ride hadn't been that long. Along the way, I noticed this building because unlike most of the other structures in the area (which are of prefabricated construction with some kind of facing), it was laid brick. I was particularly fascinated by the balconies.
