From 1900-1955, the Admiral Dewey carried coal barges around New York Harbor. After a stint in Charleston, the boat was purchased by the McAllister Towing and Transportation Co., who renamed it the Helen McAllister. It was donated to the South Street Seaport Museum in 2000. I say a little more about it on my New York City landmarks blog. National Register Number ADMIRAL DEWEY (tugboat): 02001619
