The Parque del Buen Retiro named by Madrid's king (Park of the Pleasant Retreat) is a large and popular, 1.4 km (350 acre) park in Madrid city center, not far from the Prado Museum. Once outside the city, Madrid now entirely surrounds the park.

Era muy divertido porque primero alzabamos la mano para llamar su atencion y luego le pediamos permiso para la foto, ellas decian, vale, pero luego nosotras!!!! (La verdad es que estaban atrapadas en el lago asique pedir permiso era mera formalidad...) It was so funny cos at first time we wave our hand to claim his attention, later we asked them to take a pic, they say: Ok, but after that is our turn!!!! (The truth is they were trapped in the lake so asking for permission it was just pure formality...)

I'm not sure what relationship lions and Madrid have but they appear prominent in several of the bigger well known squares, fountains and monuments around the city... here's one looking out over the lake in the Parque de Retiro.
