Video of Domus Severiana In order to enlarge the Domus Augustana, Septimius Severus erected this extension on the south-east side of the stadium of Domitianus. The arcades and thermae remains are present. Septimius essentially completed the building of the Palatine complex. Piazza Venezia with its huge Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II. Its a symbol for the Italian unification. Being the geographical center of Rome, the Piazza Venezia is one of the busiest places of the city. The Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) is part of the monument. There are always two guards standing next to the tomb of the unknown soldier.
