PS 40 on 19th street between 1st and 2nd avenues in 1929. Main entrance is on 20th street. My alma mater. Born and raised in one of the buildings facing the southern portion of the building. No parking problems then. The building on left was demolished and replaced by a playground. The playground was separated from the street by an 8-foot high brick wall that we scaled as kids. The wall was torn down (when???) and replaced by a chain-link fence. From the NY Public Library Collection
