Vernon Building - 1930
Made by Bob_2006
245 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC. Mount Pleasant resident, Fredrick T. Vernon, retained the future architects of Vancouver’s City Hall to design this flatiron-shaped building. It was constructed in 1930 on what was the edge of Brewery Creek, which at that time ran from its source at the Tea Swamp, near Main and 16th through the middle of Mount Pleasant and into False Creek. At the time of construction, Vernon was the managing director of Vancouver’s GMC truck dealership. The building is faced with yellow-toned Clayburn brick that is characteristic of most of the community’s historic landmark buildings.
