Camera settings: Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250) Aperture: f/9 Focal Length: 18 mm ISO Speed: 200 Exposure Bias: 0 EV ----------------------------- The new Norwegian Opera House is placed at a plateau in the harbour and I believe it to be one of the few places in Oslo where one can shoot rather wide angled architectural scenes without having to care about other buildings and wires and such. Great place for a photographer! I know there is some noise in this image, it was a tad underexposed so I tried to compensate, which created a fair amount of noise in the windows (which you probably can see). I like the scene so much that I tried to save it anyway. From Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia: The structure provides a total area of 38,500 m² spanning 1,100 rooms, one of which has 1,350 seats and one with up to 400 seats. The Opera House was finished in 2007 with the opening event held on Saturday April 12, 2008. Total expenditures for the building project were planned at 4.4 billion NOK, but finished ahead of schedule, and 300 million NOK under budget. For those that gave me valuable advice on my latest portrait, see my recent re-edit and please tell me what you think. You have been a great help. Thanks! Listen to: Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings - 100 Days, 100 Nights Please critique me in any way you can. I'm here to learn and tune my skills (both photographic and post-processing). What could I have done to make this picture better, or what have I done that I shouldn't? All comments are helpful. Thanks!

Grønland, Oslo

Grønland, Oslo

Bird's view of the district Grønland (Greenland - but we seldom mix it with the huge island in the Atlantic). Situated in Oslo's inner eastern city, the traditional worker district has gotten a large percentage of immigrants living there, starting in the 1970's. Its becoming increasingly popular amongst ethnic Norwegians again now, with its urban location just a short walk from Oslo's central district. Most of the buildings seen near the bottom right of the photo were built over the last few years - there's been massive building work in this area lately. The four large blocks in the middle of the photo are the area called Enerhaugen - an old worker's district that was torn down and replaced by these four 13-15 floor blocks between 1960 and 1965. The pinkish/orange block complex near the bottom middle is called Grønlands torg (Greenland's plaza), and was built around 1990, if my memory serves me well. The map location for this image, as the previous ones, is the viewing point. The area seen in this image is northeast of the viewing point.

Replaced it with a full size file April 24th. See below. Oslo domkirke (Oslo Cathedral) is currently undergoing some much needed rehabilitation. Covered by this white curtain, it stands out in the cityscape. Shot in twilight. I'm pro again - so I've uploaded this image full size now, because I'm really impressed with the details! Click on the link above and have a look at the buildings from the church tower and further back. This is good! No need to worry about the image quality if you go for the Canon EOS 450D / XSi. I compared it in 100 % with a similar photo taken by a colleague of mine who's a professional photographer, using a pro cam - the details seemed better on this shot! The map location for this image, as the the other's I've posted on the same map location, is the viewing point. The area seen in this image is west of the viewing point.

In starch contrast to my -photos of Oslo: Here's the view you get when approaching the central railway station. This is in front of Oslo Central Station (Oslo S, Sentralstasjonen). The street is totally dug up for who knows what (I've certainly read it, but forgotten again.) The gathering of people on the other side of the road are the local junkies, who are hanging out here now. They get chased away by the police from time to time, and a new base is established. Right now its here. Buildings: Sticking its nose out is Byporten (City Gate) shopping mall, the tall building that looks like two buildings but isn't is Posthuset (formerly Postgirobygget). Shopping mall Oslo City seen to the left. Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) glimpsed in the background to the right.
