oh man there was sooo much food. it was ridiculous, i ate a huge amount. and it was all free! i had onigiri (rice balls), yaki soba (fried noodles center bottom), beef and veggies (mid left), udon (noodles in broth bottom), mochi (pounded rice), and... probably other stuff. jiminy. also, except for the guy on the left this is some more of my Vietnamese crew. the guy second left is the one who originally said hi to me and started everything. his name is Loc, but i don't have Vietnamese installed to show you how it is properly written.

Juken Sentai GekiRanger the latest (31st) in a series of superhero team shows put out by Toei. in the past, footage from their shows has been used for all of the various Power Rangers shows over the years. this was a special character show for all the kids. in addition to these four, they had another three or four people in suits. it was a big lipsync show, with pyrotechnics even! pretty elaborate (and long) overall, i was impressed. and so were the kids!

this is a much nicer picture of him. except this little child is not his. it does not belong to any of my Vietnamese friends, in fact. there was a family sitting next to us and as far as i could tell he just motioned the kid over and started playing with him.

man there were a lot of bikes there. the shipyard employs maybe around a thousand people, so this is only a fraction of their total parking capacity. i just thought it was nuts.

seriously, they played with this kid a fair bit and overall he had a really good time. my man on the left is making another weird face though. he's really good at that.

so cute. and so together too! these kids could not have been more than 8 or 9 ,and some of them were definitely younger than that. i was quite impressed.

there were a bunch of these toilets for the workers at the shipyard. maybe nice in the summer but i would not want to have to use it in the winter....

just to give you an idea of how massive this operation is. this is just one of probably at least ten such hangers. sooo many people work here.

these kids were one of the first acts and they were really good! maybe i can get a video from Ahn, the engineer in my Vietnamese crew.

four of my Vietnamese friends. the one making that really scary face is a bit mischievous, but not in a bad way.
