Orangeville Theatre
Made by Light Collector
This building is currently being used as the community theatre but is must have been the town hall at one point in time. It was constructed in 1875 and located at 87 Broadway Street. The double doors on the left would indicate that the building was also a fire hall at some time, although there is another building on Broadway that is an old firehall. Take a second to look at a large version to see the unusual Steer Head decorations over the ground floor doors and windows on the left side wing. There are several buildings on Orangeville's main drag that have a rather unique architectural feature. Specifically, these bay windows on the second floor. Although not as pronounced as the Lunenburg Bumps found in that small Nova Scotia town, they are certainly reminiscent of that design feature. This particular building also features dormer windows on the third floor that are similar to those found on many 19th century Quebec buildings.
