Photo bibs
Made by Dimitri P.
Montreal, July 15 2007 at the FIFA U-20 soccer tournament in Montreal, a camerawoman and photographers are wearing special color coded vests issued by the federation. These bibs, are required to be worn in order to be able to shoot from the sidelines. Recent controversy sparked when a sports federation voted unanimously to use the photographers' vests as advertising tools and print sponsored ads on them. Photojournalists claim that they are not 'walking billboards'. (PHOTO: Dimitri Papadopoulos/QuebecPress.com) PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTE: During a break, I had a long chat with this young camerawoman. She was like in her early-mid 20's and was operating, as she described me, this huge Slow motion TV camera. She was freaking out as this huge HD TV camera is designed to be operated with it's lens wide open. (ie, f/1.8). To complicate things, this is NOT an auto-focus toy. She showed me her sore finders (an her beautiful watery blue eyes) from manually focusing... Conclusion, we photographers, have it good... For the record, she told me that she learned good TV techniques at Joquiere Cegep and she is behind this camera on practically all French studio mini-TV series shot at Radio-Canada. Cool! She brought me some memories when I personally used to be a news cameraman... sometime before I became involved into wire press photography. (for TV people, I used to be a cameraman with the U-Matic 3/4-inch - yes, this beast was considered as being portable!) On another break, I had a chat with a young police chick OMG. She started showing me her pullet proof vest, her gun belt, and what not... I'll post a picture of that soon... stay tuned... (Ok, I provoked her, by complaining that we had to war these GREEN photo vests, and then she went on telling me that we had it good, as police MUST wear these heavy bullet proof vests...) Thankfully, being in Montreal, we are civilized, and police usually doesn't have intervene during soccer games.... (compared to Europe, for example...) No pun intended to other neighboring cities... Ha Ha.

Made by Anirudh Koul
Taken at Phil Collins and Genesis Concert (Turn It on Again Tour) on September 14, 2007 at the Olympic Stadium, Montreal, Canada. I am quiet happy today, the Flickr stats show my Photoblog just went over 200,000 view from 240 photos, so celebrating the occasion with photographs from a Genesis concert held in 2007. I was right in front of a giant oval screen, so assembled some images taken from it. Monster Trucks at the Olympic Stadium
Made by montreal_bunny
296/365 - 10/23/2010 Tonight we went to see the Monster Spectacular show at the Olympic Stadium. Great fun as always, but not as good as last year in my opinion. What, no demolition derby??? Didn't get too many good pictures either. Maybe because of the seats we had, and partly because it's difficult (at least for me) to portray the huge size of these trucks without something next to them to put them into perspective, and also I was feeling kind of of woozy and out-of-sorts. And no, it's not because of the beer, I didn't even have any! Anyway, here's a tilt-shift of a Monster just for fun!

Olympic Stadium
Made by J-Fish
Seating 56,040 people, the 1976 Olympic Stadium in Montreal has had no permanent resident to it since the Expos moved out. Many Montrealers don't like the stadium and view it as a massive waste of money and space. However, because it is directly above a subway line, imploding it is impossible... making demolition costly and time consuming. If only they had just went to Expos games...

Olympic Stadium Montreal ~winter time~
Made by twopics
Not such a cold night in Montreal tonight. But my fingers were frozen after less than an hour and I couldn't stand behind outside by -13°C. I really have to find some better gloves! Anyway, I hope you will enjoy that shot. Large size here to see a group of 3 stars almost in line above the stadium roof.

Ring-tailed lemur's ringed tail
Made by charlietyack
These lemurs were in a cage with all mod lemur cons - trees to swing on, water to bathe in, plants etc, and they all congregated in the area that looked most artificial - sitting on speakers and window-ledges. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring-tailed_Lemur - any animal that engages in stink fights gets my vote!

Goliath
Made by montreal_bunny
This was taken at the Montreal Biodome and is the alleged home of Goliath, the 8KG lobster that was donated to the Biodome by the winner of a Boston Superbowl raffle. I say alleged because I searched the entire open-air tank, and could not find Goliath anywhere. I guess you have to be good at camouflage to live to be as old as he is (50 to 70 years old)!

AC DC Concert (Montreal) - Firing Canons during 'We Salute You'
Made by Anirudh Koul
ACDC Concert in Montreal (Olympic Stadium) on 8th August, 2009 (Black Ice Tour). AC/DC displays some awesome battle themed artillery firing from Canons during 'For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)' Disclaimer: No humans (seated on the other side of the stadium) were hurt during the performance of this song. 1990 Olympic Stadium Montreal Expos 10
Made by Everything_Jerry_Reuss
Taken @ Olympic Stadium on September 14, 1990. The site of the 1976 Olympics didn't convert well at all to a baseball park. The site lines, surface and financial problems plagued the park as it fell in disrepair. Still, it had its share of historical moments. I remember Rick Monday's home run that sent the 1981 Dodgers to the World Series.

Made by Anirudh Koul

AC DC Concert (Montreal) - Rock n Roll Train
Made by Anirudh Koul
ACDC Concert in Montreal (Olympic Stadium) on 8th August, 2009 (Black Ice Tour). When AC/DC says Runaway Train, I didn't think they will crash a whole steam locomotive on the concert stage. And that too with red glowing horns. Brilliant! For more photos, check out

Yes... I took 85 pictures of Olympic Stadium in Montreal. There was something so beautiful in the ugliness of its poor aging. And its inutility (I *think* its corners were once giant fountains... or at least that's the way it looks). It's kind of tragic, in a way.

Big O
Made by Lisa-S
The 1976 Olympics were held in Montreal. This is the stadium. We had terrific weather. We left the car parked all weekend and got around on bikes. Montreal is a great city for cycling with many bike lanes separated from traffic by a curb as well as lot of trails.
