I remember hearing something about this on PBS, but didn't know exactly where it was until now. It was used for the old street car system in the Twin Cities. The tunnel provided less of a climb for street cars. This end, cemented up is all that remains. I'm not sure where it came out. With all the talk about a light rail network coming back to Minneapolis and St. Paul perhaps it's time to reopen the tunne? Look at the bottom right and someone has already gotten a start at it.

The blocked-off entrance to the Selby Hill Tunnel, which carried streetcars up Selby Avenue at a lower grade. Once a photogenic spot of St. Paul, it's all overgrown now.
