www.longuevue.com New Orleans' newest NHL (added in April '05), located off Metairie Rd near the 17th Street canal, which separates New Orleans & Metairie. Now, I'd imagine you recognize the name 17th Street canal as the canal whose levees broke during hurricane Katrina. This house was lucky to survive for being so close to the canal. What saved it was that the house has a basement, and that's where all the water went into. The tour lady told me that it took 3 months for them to pump out all the water from the basement and they did an excellent job of recovering the house!
Fish and Chips

The last few weeks, I had a craving for Fish and Chips. In the New Orleans area, fried catfish, or other fish fried with cornmeal is everywhere, but thicker flour battered fish seemed to be impossible to find. I went around to every local bar around here that I thought might have them. The only place I found was the Fox and Hound off of Clearview, but I was looking for someplace that wasn't part of a national chain. Finally, today, I found them at Winston's Pub off of Old Metairie Road. I think I would have preferred thick cut regular fries rather than the waffle cut, but I guess I'll take what I can get.
