Phare Des Mamelles
Made by Jeff Attaway
The lowest shutter speed I have ever shot during a KAP session at 1/250. Turned out well and had many keepers, but this photograph is the only one worthy of upload. About ten minutes after this shot, they turned the lights on. There was still a bit of ambient light, so now I wonder what 1/150 or 1/100 would do while the light is on?l www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/sen.htm It has seen better days since it was built in 1864. Have no idea when this was taken. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) 7' Rok

Dakar Trouble - After
Made by Jeff Attaway
Took these after the trouble died down. Senegal and Cameroon played in Yaounde for an African Cup of Nations qualifier match. As everyone was watching the match in the Ngor area of Dakar, the power went out. Local youth took to the streets to vent their anger. Rocks were thrown at passing cars/local businesses and they blocked the Route de Ngor by burning tires and rubbish in the roads. Trouble lasted less than an hour because the riot police took control of the area. Many protest lately in Dakar due to the increased cost of living and the frequent power outages.

Hello
Made by Jeff Attaway
This evening tried to do Phare des Mamelles again. No luck, the wind picked up and started over powering the kite. Unfortunately, no pictures to write home about. Mission was to shoot at 1/125 and get the lighthouse at dusk right when the lighthouse lamp is lit. I had some spectators and gave them my Flickr address. If you stopped by... Hello again... There you are below... Cheers... Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) 7' Rok

MISTER MAODO: THE FOUNDER OF THE TROPHEE MOUSSO COMPETITIONS
Made by MALICK001
MASTER YODA: Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.

African Renaissance statue
Made by chris_nevins
Shot a few days before the Grand Opening on April 3. Security wouldn't let me near the top - got about halfway up before someone made me turn around ;) An impressive statue with an interesting & controversial story: news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100403/wl_africa_afp/senegalpoliti...

GoreeNoReturn
Made by Y Mucho Mas
The view through the 'door of no return' of Goree Island's slave fort. I was there on a weekend, when it's a very popular daytrip for locals, so it was impossible to take a photo without someone in it. But it's fitting to have a stranger there in the picture, a stranger who CAN return, taking a photo of the view the departing slaves must have kept as a mental photo their entire lives.

Le Phare des Mamelles
Made by Jeff Attaway
I will try to obtain a better shot later down the road. Impressive that this has been a Dakar landmark since 1864. www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/sen.htm Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16

Phare Des Mamelles - Lit
Made by Jeff Attaway
Testing out KAPing in low light. Not bad for a first run. Major issue, I had to use a Flow Form over a Rok due to some pretty stiff winds. Unfortunately, much more movement with a Flow Form Not the sharpest photo ever. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16

Lighthouse

Jad, thanks for stopping by and chatting with me. www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/sen.htm Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16

Looking towards Pointe des Almadies
Made by Jeff Attaway
Not the greatest of shots because the light was fading fast. What makes me so happy is I was able to KAP in 6-8 mph wind with the 8' Mike Jones Rokkaku. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) 8' Rok

Slave-trade-tourism
Made by Y Mucho Mas
Why do we take pictures of ourselves in such places? What is the appropriate expression? The absurdity of this inexplicable compulsion nearly always makes me smile, because it seems right that I should look stupid when doing something stupid.

Accident
Made by Jeff Attaway
An unfortunate incident obviously. I heard only minor injuries. No time or money to get this vehicle out of the current parking place. This Car Rapide has been stuck here for a week, so I wonder how long it will remain there?

Lighthouse
Made by Jeff Attaway
One day in the future this shot is going to be nice when the construction is finished at the foot of Mamelles. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16

Almost Red & Blue
Made by Jeff Attaway
If the shutter would have went off a split second later I would have had both in the frame. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16

kite shadow
Made by Jeff Attaway
I like this one because I am sure the Flow Form 30 shadow interrupted their sand time. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 30

Dakar Haze
Made by Jeff Attaway
Looking South towards downtown Dakar. Not much to see with the haze of the day. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16

Wish I could have had the rig lower to the action. Better viewed large. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 30

In June we should see the first rain. Looking South East towards Dakar. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) 8' Rok

I think the rig was pretty close to level with the monument. Image was captured by a camera suspended by a kite line. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) Flow Form 16
