Chicago has 31 lakefront beaches along Lake Michigan, including Oak Street (OAK) Beach covering the Area from the North Avenue 'Hook' Peir south to Ohio Street Beach. Oak Street is home to the largest area of deep water swimming in the city (1/2 mile over 10 ft), and is training grounds for hundreds of triathletes, scuba divers and distance swimmers.
