Nyhavn (lit. New Harbor) is a popular area in Copenhagen, Denmark with both locals and tourists. Starting from an old anchor at Kongens Nytorv, the street is lined with many small bars and restaurants facing out to a picturesque harbor. In warmer weather people fill every available table in the outdoors seating area in front of every restaurant. And even in cooler weather the heartier types sit outdoors with a beer and a blanket, provided by the restaurant on each seat, over their legs. While not extremely expensive, the restaurants are not cheap. Less formal seating is on the edge of the harbour with bring-your-own beer. It is not uncommon to see groups of young people sitting along the waterfront with beer, enjoying the sunshine, the crowds and the street entertainment. It is the starting point for various canal tour excursions, and is located near Kongens Nytorv, at one end of Strøget, and near the start of Langelinie, which leads to Amalienborg Palace. Nyhavn was built by King Christian V in the 1670s, and it once had a bad reputation on account of the concentration of sailors living in the neighborhood. The oldest building still standing is from 1681, at number 9. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen lived in Nyhavn for some years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nyhavn (lit. Nuevo Puerto) es una de las zonas mas populares de Copenhague, Dinamarca, tanto para los nativos como para los turistas. Inicialmente era un viejo embarcadero en Kongens Nytorv, la calle esta flanqueada por pequeños bares y restaurantes que dan al particular embarcadero. Con tiempo agradable, las mesitas de los restaurantes estan complementa llenas de gente. E incluso en otoño-invierno se encuentra gente en las zonas de las terrazas con una cerveza y una manta proporcionada por los restaurantes para calentar las piernas. Aunque no extremadamente caros, los restaurantes no son baratos. Una forma menos formal de disfrutar de NyHavn es sentado en el borde del embarcadero con nuestra cerveza. No es nada inusual ver grupos de jovenes sentados a lo largo del embarcadero, disfrutando de su cerveza, de la puesta de sol, de la gente y de algun que otro grupo de musica callejero. Es el punto de inicio de varios tour operadores que ofrecen excursiones por el canal. Nyhavn fue construido por Christian V en1670 e inicialmente tenia una reputacion mala porque la zona se habia convertido en punto de reunion de marineros y prostitutas de la epoca. La construccion mas antigua data de 1681, en el numero 9. Hans Christian Andersen, uno de los autores mas importantes de la literatura Danesa y mundial vivio varios años entre sus pintorescas casas.

Casas hanseáticas en Nyhavn (Puerto Nuevo). Antiguamente era el lugar clásico de contratación de marineros, en la actualidad existen un gran número de restaurantes y tiendas.
