Since 1919, Nutana Collegiate has housed an amazing collection of original artwork, which was first organized as a memorial to alumni who died during the First World War. Early pioneer artists such as Gus Kenderdine, James H. Henderson, and Inglis Sheldon-Williams are just some of the featured artists. This part of the collection is behind plexiglas in the main hallway.

This high school was originally called Saskatoon Collegiate Institute, and was the first secondary school in the city. It was completed in 1909 and is of French Renaissance design. Its present name was adopted in 1923 with the opening of Saskatoon's second high school, Bedford Road Collegiate.

Who'd have thought you'd ever see this in a high school in Saskatchewan? I am so pleased that today's teenagers have this kind of support. It sure would have helped me out when I was a young, closeted and scared gay teen.
