At the premier of Spike Lee's, When the Levees Broke - a four hour documentary about post-Katrina New Orleans and the challenges its inhabitants have since been confronted with - Reverend Robert Brown was joined by a contingent of Common Ground volunteers to distribute flyers bringing attention to the Commemoration of the Great Flood. This ceremony and procession honored those who died during the flooding that followed several levee breaches. The NOPD (New Orleans Police Department) threated to arrest this group if they continued to distribute flyers to the thousands of survivors gathering and waiting in line to see the movie.
