Paris La Defense - Sky Bridge
Made by GlobeTrotter 2000
Paris La Defense is a major business district for the city of Paris. The district is at the westernmost extremity of Paris' 10 km long Historical Axis, which starts at the Louvre in Central Paris and continues along the Champs-Elysees, well beyond the Arc de Triomphe before culminating at La Defense. Around its 110-metre (360 ft)-high Grande Arche and esplanade, the district holds many of the Paris urban area's tallest high-rises. With its 77.5 acres, its 72 glass-and-steel slick buildings including 14 high-rises above 150 metres (490 ft), its 150,000 daily workers and 3.5 million square metres of office space, La Defense is Europe's largest business district. La Defénse | HDR

Paris, Île-de-France - France Artwork? Actually, it is a picture – HDR photography. The original shot is . La Defénse is a major business district located in the Main Axis of Paris (the Axis begins at the Musée du Louvre/Jardin de Tuileries and extends to the Grand Arche de La Defénse). It features some of the tallest buildings in Paris, like the black granite-faced Tour Areva. Taken from the base of the Grande Arche de La Defénse, using a Canon Powershot A85. It's a workout using Photomatix over 5 different exposure images for the HDR/Tone Mapping effect and a high pass filter in Photoshop to make this 'artwork' effect. www.carlosseo.com

France - Paris - La Defense - looking up - blue sq - Topaz 02
Made by Darrell Godliman
I'm happy to admit this photo of the Grande Arche was inspired by others I'd seen on Flickr. I've given it my (almost) trademark sq crop / blue tint treatment to give it a bit of a twist. From Wikipedia : The Arche is almost a perfect cube (width: 108m, height: 110m, depth: 112m); it has been suggested that the structure looks like a four-dimensional hypercube (a tesseract) projected onto the three-dimensional world. It has a prestressed concrete frame covered with glass and Carrara marble from Italy and was built by the French civil engineering company Bouygues.

Day 339 - Not anybody can be K.
Made by Imhara
More in comments I was planning a K.-inspired shot last week, and in true Karen fashion, I did have: *a window - check *knee-length striped socks - check *a dress - check BUT my window isn't as practical as hers, and my body as gorgeous as hers... So I didn't manage to get in a classic FUTAB position, and that's all you get. Well, at least I tried, right? And check out , she's awesome! :) Fun fact: I only had one sock in this pic... Couldn't find the other one, so I tried to conceal it. Did pretty well, I think! :D Week 29 of my 52 Weeks project

France - Paris - La Defense - Bridge 02 mono sq
Made by Darrell Godliman
This is taken on a footbridge linking two of the La Defense skyscrapers. It took a while to wait for this shot as it was lunchtime and the bridge was full of people going to and fro. I liked this figure though as his hunched shoulders seemed to say something about the drudgery of the '9 to 5'. I hadn't done many of these 'blue tinted, Topaz Adjust with a bit of diffusion' shots in a while but I'm making up for it with these Paris shots. Somehow it does seem to suit contemporary architecture quite well.

Day 338 - Get Me Inspired #2
Made by Imhara
Because I just can't get enough... I've been meaning to do this one since the day Tony ... But I never got around to it. So last week, as I tried to be creative for my come back, I decided I would go for it. I think I bought the pink dress on the left the day before I took this picture. I absolutely love it. I think it's funny I picked outfits that represent the 3 primary colors... And that the last one is mostly white. With the black background, that's everything you need to start painting, yay! :)

France - Paris - La Defense - Lift structure - sepia
Made by Darrell Godliman
Seen here is the hi-tech styled lift up to the roof of the Grande Arche, unfortunately it's now closed with no news of a possible re-opening. From Wikipedia : After a non-injury accident in the elevators in April of 2010, the Department of Ecology, owner of the roof of the Grande Arche, has decided to permanently close the computer museum, restaurant, and viewing deck. Access to the roof is still possible via the elevators in the north and south walls, but they are closed to the public.

France - Paris - La Defense - Sculpture
Made by Darrell Godliman
I definitely seem to prefer a high impact post-production style at the moment. The colours in this shot from La Defense of the Tête Monumentale” by the sculptor Igor Mitoraj are hardly naturalistic having turned down the red, yellow and magenta saturation and added a bit to the blue, cyan and green. Still, an interesting looking thumbnail definitely helps get you noticed on Flickr.

France - Paris - La Defense - Skyscraper Reflections 08 sq v2
Made by Darrell Godliman
One of my favourite photos from my recent Paris trip, my alternative title for this shot of La Defense reflections was 'The Red Dot' as it's amazing how something so small can still dominate the frame. Only on a few of the windows, presumably they let the Fire Brigade which windows are Fire Escape windows, but this is only a guess.

365 #264: Drowning in books
Made by AurélienS
May 31, 2009 This is for Tony's group, because I love the idea. Of course I had to not follow the instructions to the letter, cause I'm like that, so I'm using books instead of music. But you have Imhara's picture to get a proper one if you need one.

Paris #14 prescan
Made by Thomas Birke
This is a vertical version of the same scene as #13 - you can see more of the elevated roads there, I like that! Also I exposed this one stop longer, this gave me more room with the colour adjustments and I could get rid of some of the blue cast. thomasbirke.com

January 31, 2009 Who will spot all the modifications to this photo ? I wanted a clean shot, and of course a lot of stuff was in the way. It feels good to be at peace with her. Sitting next to each other, not saying much, enjoying each other's company again. I feel better.
