The old Potato sheds at the back of the market theatre is Newtown is being redeveloped into a multi-million rand shopping mall. Apparently the bare bones of the old structure will remain. I'm cynical about the viability of this project as all the shops adjacent to the the Market is sitting empty. Imo the area is totally unsuitable as a shopping destination as there are hardly enough people working and living in the area to make it fly. It's makes for interesting photography though.

These are all theater props, or parts of street parade floats that are scattered around the interior of the vast closed off Potato Sheds behind the Market Theater complex in Newtown Johannesburg. Interesting area to explore but not that easy to get into. I am not happy with these pix - use them as a frame of reference. They were shot in a hurry!
