These flowers line a very craptacular road in SLO Town. Perhaps our ugliest and dirtiest road. And yet here they are. Doing what they do. Most Californians that live on or near the coast know about June Gloom. Which would be more aptly named May-June-July-and-oftentimes-August Gloom. That's where the sun rolls outta bed somwhere between noon and 1PM and in its stead we get a dome of gray posing as sky. I kinda love June Gloom. I mean, yeah, sure, it would be nicer to be all sunshiney and fabulous in the morning. But there is something delicious about the foggy mornings as well. Something yawny and stretchy and ummmm time for another cup of coffee about it. And it makes those burst of sunshine mornings that much better, too. (I used shadow/highlight in a heavy handed manner for these shots (hence the halo)... but i liked it, so there you have it)

An often overlooked blossoming patch of wildflower weeds seen up-close and personal this morning as I walked to work.
