The Trail Winds Away

Knowing the Sunday was going to be a 6000 foot descent over 6 miles didn't inspire us or our knees with a lot of delight. Finding out that the trail pretty much contours along for the first mile and a half or two without losing more than a couple hundred feet of elevation almost made me nervous! What awaited us? Well, it wasn't like dropping down a cliff, but it was close. some of this trail was ridiculously steep. I sure felt sorry for the people going up!
In the Baldy Bowl

Stopping for a breath while climbing the face of the Baldy Bowl for the first time. It was too steep to stop to remove the pack for any reason, and I ran out of water before I got to the top.
