If you have ever wondered what El Mirage dry lake (where the meets are held) looks like from the San Gabriel Mountains, here's a view from the top of 9,399-foot Mt Baden-Powell. According to Google Earth, the dry lake is 21 miles as the crow flies from the top of the mountain. For the first time in my life, it seemed to take just as long or longer to get down the mountain as to get up. I think that means I'm finally getting old.
