Mount Lemmon
Mount Lemmon is in the Santa Catalina Mountains located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson, AZ. It is 9,157 feet above sea-level, and receives approximately 180 inches of snow annually. Mount Lemmon was named in honor of Sarah Lemmon, wife of botanist John Gill Lemmon, who trekked to the top of the mountain with her husband in 1881.

M101 Pinwheel Galaxy
Made by Jon Wiley
This is a photo I processed and took during Astronomy Camp 2006 at Steward Observatory on Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, AZ. I got the luminance (detail) exposures from the 60 telescope and I used the Hubble image for color. I cleaned up asterisms, subtracted a flat field, and then I combined the exposures to create this shot. The color doesn't cover the full field, but using the Hubble color is nice because it brings out background galaxies (red smudges). Idea to shoot M101 came from Adam Block. Thanks, Adam.

NGC 4725
Made by danoday
NGC 4725 is a barred spiral galaxy, is located in the constellation Coma Berenices, and is about 40 million light years from Earth and 100 thousand light years across. Taken from the University of Arizona's Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter near Tucson, Arizona in April 2010. Photographer's note: This was geotagged with the location of the observatory - I couldn't figure out how to tag something in space! Special thanks to the observatory host Adam Block and the other participants from Space Science for Schools, Inc.

Mt. Lemmon
Made by pdr1017
On vacation, visiting the family in Arizona. We drove up top to Mt, Lemmon which was absolutely gorgeous and 25 degrees cooler than the valley! I decided to try some Ansel Adams inspired photography so I set my Nikon to f/22 (the sharpest I can go with my 35mm lens) and ISO 200 and shot away! I'm very pleased with how it turned out and, as usual, no editing done to this shot.

In a Flash
Made by Supernothing!
I found another cool thing about my D300s, it has manual flash controls. I'm sure everyone already knows this, but my D2X had no flash :( I'm pretty sure this is the first time Ive ever uploaded a photo taken with the in camera flash. Check out the rest of my . Comments, notes, and favs appreciated!

Often called horny toads, they are, in fact, lizards. This one almost got squished by us clumsy humans because it blended in so well.
