Dear Flickr friends ~ Not ready to leave my Paris archives just quite yet so I am posting another view of the Sacre Coeur for you. I love the light and the color of the sky at dusk - the 'blue hour' - when day turns to night. [If you are interested in a brief and interesting history of the Sacre Coeur in English, click on the photo below where I've posted it in the comments section. The Sacre Coeur was built in the late 1800's on the hightest hill of Paris,where there had been a temple - since Roman times - that was found in archeological digs. Later other churches were built over those ruins.] N'etant pas tout a fait prete a quitter mes archives de Paris pour des nouvelles photos de Venise ou de la Californie du nord, je vous offre encore une prise de vue du Sacre Coeur. After spending the sunset circling Le Sacre Coeur like a photographer-vulture, I followed a few roads that led deeper into Montmartre. This is the famous area that held the studios of many famous artists including Picasso, Monet, and Van Gogh. Also, if you are a fan of the movie like me, you may notice this area from Amelie. Trey's Tip: I really get a kick out of just standing there and watching people paint. It's much better than watching Bob Ross (to say the least), when you have a chance just to sit back and hear people speaking French while creating nice little works of art. from the blog at www.stuckincustoms.com

This is a famous basilica in Paris. It sits high on a hill and is beautifully lit in the evening. This is the birthplace of the Jesuits back in 1534. That is only interesting to me because I was a Jesuit student myself back in the day. You would think that would mean that I would be allowed to come inside to take all the photos I want with a special key that everyone gets upon graduation. But I had no such key so I was forced to stay on the perimeter with all the other heathens. from my daily photo blog at www.stuckincustoms.com

A young couple at the top of Sacre Coeur, Paris. I have a whole set of these - I got a little bit obsessed with Doisneau style photographs and ended up looking out for (or maybe chasing?) couples all over Paris. Some noticed me, but these two didn't. Will upload the rest of the series soon, but they're not quite ready yet. Was aiming for a cinematic style, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amelie was the inspiration behind the post processing. Uhmm, yes, and you could view it bigger if you'd like.

Hello dear friends :-) The sky here (which I changed) is the result of two blended pics (one pic taken when the weather was bad, and another one on a sunny day, but both with a lot of clouds. I apllied a HDR treatment to one of them and changed the colors after blending). The tones of the basilica are also a little bit changed to be more adapted to the tones of the sky. I also added light on the left part of the basilica to give of focus on the green statue. Have a great and crazy day!! :-)) (recommended)

This is a view down Montmartre in Paris, along Rue de Mont Cenis. In the distance, looking north, you can see the Stade de France. Heureka, this has been the first shot with my new APO-TELE-XENAR 12/800. And boy did it deliver. This kind of density effect that I get with such a long lens is exactly what I hoped for. And sharp it is as well. And heavy as hell. And you would normally need two tripods. I helped my lack of it with resting the front standard on a railing. Seems like it worked out.

View from Monmartre, Paris. I took this shot in 2008, and for some reason I didn't use my tripod but placed the camera on a fence. The original image was slightly tilted, so I had to rotate it quite a bit. Long exposure shot + some processing in Photoshop.
