Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii is a beautiful base, not common in the military, which tends to have bland, utilitarian buildings and landscaping. However, almost everywhere on Hickam has carefully tended palm trees, flowering bushes, and healthy green grass. The beautiful views of the clear water certainly doesn't hurt, either. Twenty years ago my father was stationed in Hawaii. We lived in the base housing at Iroquois Point. Here, I am standing on Hickam Air Force Base, looking acoss the entrance to Pearl Harbor towards Iroquois Point. We used to head down to the beach you can see and watch the ships go in and out of the harbor.
