Checkpoint Charlie
Made by http2007
Checkpoint Charlie was the name given by the Western Allies to a crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. Other Allied checkpoints on the Autobahn to the West were Checkpoint Alpha at Helmstedt and Checkpoint Bravo at Dreilinden, southeast of Wannsee, named from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's phonetic alphabet. Many other sector crossing points existed in Berlin. Some of these were designated for residents of West Berlin and West German citizens. Checkpoint Charlie was designated as the single crossing point (by foot or by car) for foreigners and members of the Allied forces. (Members of the Allied forces were not allowed to use the other sector crossing point designated for use by foreigners, the Friedrichstraße railway station.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checkpoint_Charlie

The Wall....no more - BErlin
Made by Jill .... in Toronto
using the camera's timer function..... why this photo is memorable? During my 1st and last night in Berlin already with my sleeping clothes on, around 2330, I asked myself if I missed out anything since my flight for Munich was very early the next day and guess what I missed visiting, the Berlin Wall, so i changed clothes in a snap, hailed a cab, went to the wall and had photos of it and photos of the wall and me by setting up the timer and letting the camera sit on the top of the parked cars. My photos at the wall had 2 different dates for those taken before the strike of midnite and those after.....
