"Almost Once" (down but not out)
Made by amniisia
I regularly visit Brett Whiteley's Almost Once (aka. Matchsticks) sculpture down near the Art Gallery of New South Wales. It's possibly my favourite sculpture, beautifully simplistic but provoking so much thought (for those who care to contemplate). I was a little surprised this afternoon to find the burnt matchstick coated in blue plastic - it seems the cockatoos have been munching on it. On another Whiteley note, later on as I headed back from the Royal Botanic Gardens the skies opened up suddenly so I popped in to the gallery to wait out the rain. As I walked past the information desk and looked to my left I almost fell over - Whiteley's Alchemy was there! My favourite artwork. Looking over the panels of the immense work easily killed some time. I know I'll be back there soon to gaze at it some more. It's stunning. Go check it out if you're in Sydney.

My Thumb looking at Pott's Point

This was intentional. Thankfully, the place I formerly wanted to live was not as interesting as I had originally hoped. Which, again, is a good thing.

It takes one tree to make a 1000 matches, it takes 1 match to burn a 1000 trees. But these matches took probably 2 full trees, and some plastic.
