1961 Mercury Comet
Made by splattergraphics
My mother had a 1960 Comet when I was little. She bought it new and kept it for about eight years. It was stripped--I think the only option was an automatic transmission. This '61 is a little fancier, with a vinyl top and a center console and a lot more exterior chrome. I'm guessing it's also a tad faster than Mom's six-cylinder version was. Saturday night cruise at Marley Station, Glen Burnie, MD, 7/26/08.

1971 Ford Maverick
Made by splattergraphics
Twin-turbo 360ci Ford V8 that can run on either methanol from the tank up front or gasoline from the fuel cell in the rear. This car has already run in the 8.50 range. The owner said he plans to try and get it certified for mid-sevens next! Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, July 17, 2010.

1963 Chevy Impala Sedan Delivery
Made by splattergraphics
This is really an amazing piece of work, especially when you consider that Chevy no longer offered a 2-door full-size wagon by 1963. The doors are most likely Bel Air/Biscayne 2-door sedan items. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, August 20, 2011.

1968 Volkswagen Beetle hot rod
Made by splattergraphics
When I asked the owner about this in 2007, he said it was a California car and that the roof was already cut off. He removed the fenders, added earlier-model hood and trunk, moved the front suspension forward 8 and lowered it 4. Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, 8/16/08.

1969 Chevy Chevelle SS396
Made by splattergraphics
There was something interesting going on with this paint and I'm not sure I quite caught it. It was red with suggestions of orange and also pink, depending on how the light hit it. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, June 25, 2011.

1970 Ford Cobra
Made by splattergraphics
I thought sure it would say Torino or Fairlane or even Falcon somewhere on it, but no, it's just a Cobra. There was a Marti report sitting on the dash. First Lost in the 50s Cruise Night of the season at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, April 3, 2010.

1932 Ford 5-window coupe
Made by splattergraphics
Beautiful 1950s-style hot rod with 283 Chevy power. The interior is mostly white with blue tuck-and-roll accents and the engine is painted to match the body. First cruise night of the season at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, April 4, 2009.

1952 Willys Jeep
Made by splattergraphics
Military Jeeps are great. They have a nice big plaque on the dash that tells you which company built them (Willys Overland) and when they were delivered (8/52). Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, July 24, 2010.

"1939 Dodge Pickup" Hot Rod
Made by splattergraphics
The nose is '39 Dodge, the powertrain (3.9L V6/five-speed manual) and suspension are from a '90s Dodge Dakota and the cab is a cut-down Ford Ranger piece. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, July 30, 2011.

1970 Ford Torino Cobra Twister Special
Made by splattergraphics
The Twister Special was a low-production promotional package on the '70 Torino Cobra and Mustang Mach 1. Only 90 Torinos and 96 Mustangs were built. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, September 4, 2010.

1971 Ford Maverick Grabber
Made by splattergraphics
All the Grabber striping on this car is painted--no decals. That's hand-painted yellow pinstriping and hand-painted Grabber logos. First Lost in the 50s Cruise Night of the season at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, April 3, 2010.

1957 Ford Country Sedan
Made by splattergraphics
The owner wasn't sure of the exact model (there's no badging on the car). Four doors with that side trim seems to indicate a Country Sedan. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, August 29, 2009.

1959 DeSoto wagon
Made by splattergraphics
There's a period child seat in the back, along with period travel games and vacation-spot stickers on the windows. It's like it just came back from a family vacation--in 1961. Lost in the 50s Saturday cruise night, April 2008.

1934 Pontiac Sedan w/matching trailer
Made by splattergraphics
That trailer is a really nice piece of work. It even has a grille up front to match the car. Lost in the 50s Fundraiser Cruise Night for Ronald McDonald House and local charities, Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, 9/5/09.

1956 Ford Fairlane Ranchero
Made by splattergraphics
Ford, of course, didn't introduce the Ranchero until 1957, but that hasn't stopped customizers from creating earlier-model versions. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, July 18, 2009.

1959 Chevy Impala Convertible
Made by splattergraphics
The spotless fuel-injected 283. This option was only available on the Impala for one year, and very few were ordered with it. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, September 18, 2010.

1959 Chevy Impala Convertible
Made by splattergraphics
I didn't even know they'd made fuelie Impalas. Real ones are super-rare. This one's a dead-on clone with a four-speed. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, September 18, 2010.

"1939 Dodge Pickup" Hot Rod
Made by splattergraphics
Lots of owner fabrication here: Dash, door panels, seats, windshield. The steering column is from the donor Dakota. Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, Glen Burnie, MD, July 30, 2011.

1969 Chevy Corvette
Made by splattergraphics
427/4-speed. Rainy weather in the afternoon led to cancellation of the opener of the Lost in the 50s Cruise Night at Marley Station Mall, but not everyone got the word. Glen Burnie, MD, April 2, 2011.
