Safeway, aka Dateway (we discovered once we'd got back to England). The reason for taking the photo will be lost on most Americans, I suspect. Here in the UK we had our own Safeway chain, linked to the US chain and using the same branding. But they were sold to the Wm Morrison chain a couple of years back and turned from red-and-green to yellow-and-black.
