Maribor (German: Marburg an der Drau) is a city in Slovenia and the seat of the Maribor urban municipality. With a population of 115,693 as of 2002, it is the second-largest city in the country. Maribor lies on the river Drava at the meeting point of the Pohorje mountain, the Drava valley, the Drava plain, and the Kozjak and Slovenske gorice hill ranges. It is the center of the Slovenian region of Lower Styria and its largest city. The oldest vine in the world
- Water tower - built in the 16th century.
- Mariborski grad (Maribor's castle) - built by Emperor Frederick III in the 15th century. The castle was built to fortify the northwestern part of the town wall.
- Stara trta (Old Vine) - Maribor has the Guinness Book-certified oldest vine in the world (about 400 years old) growing on the front of a house. (Located in district .)

You have to view it large, to really appreciate the level of elaborate stupidity that went into this. --- Shot handheld, thru scratched plexiglass of the cockpit (plus autofocus locked in macro mode ... don't ask...), so the quality is a a notch (or five) below top one...

Both this and the next image were combined from two shots with different exposure. One shot had blown-out sky and another very dark water. For this image I used only exposure compression (highlight & shadow correction). For HDR I used tone mapping. Best viewed Large.
