2010-07-20 ADPOTD NDDO2010 - Day Seven (Sunset) - Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay, QLD Back to Horseshoe bay for another crack at another sunset. Starting to get a little disappointed with myself - it seems that I've come back from this Magnetic Island trip with the SAME shot over and over again - rocks, sun, and cloudy water. Slightly over it - need to inspire myself to produce results that display more individuality and uniqueness, but how? Argh!! Anyway! This particular sunset, TimCz and I clambered several hundred meters over rocks, however failed to realise that when we crossed the sandbank(s) and TINY creek crossing to get to said rocks, that the ride was quickly coming in. To cut to the chase, upon returning to aforementioned sandbank and creek, we were presented with a little bit of an obstacle - chest-deep water. So, in what may have possibly been the most extreeeeeme!! moment of the trip, we took off our backpacks, raised them above our heads, and tackled the (now huge) creek crossing. We were soaked. 2010-07-17 ADPOTD NDDO2010 - Day Four - Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay, QLD Title: In keeping with tradition of my latest uploads, I've decided to resort to naming a group of my photos after the song which was playing whilst uploading/processing... In this case - Muse - Resistance. Sunset on the 4th day, finally on Magnetic Island :) Not 100% happy with this one... Unfortunately when shooting with the Big Stopper at this point in a sunset/sunrise, you're pushing 2min, which means that you only get ONE shot. So no recomposing, no adjustments, and as such I think I failed a little with the composition in this one - it just doesn't seem to work for me (seem very left heavy). Nikon D3 + Nikkor 24mm PC-E Singh-Ray 4 stop Reverse GND + Lee 10 stop ND (Big Stopper) 2 minute exposure
