Australians are notoriously lazy with vocabulary. So much so that we will shorten everything, including acronyms! One example is the Returned Soldiers' League, or RSL, which has many clubs across Australia. RSL has been shortened to Arie, because three syllables is evidently too many. As it happens, this sign actually spells Macquarie, and resides atop the Macquarie Centre Shopping Mall in Marsfield.
