Luanco, Gozón, Asturias (Spain). It constitutes an example of civil architecture of the century XVIII. Constructed in 1705 it had diverse uses: tower watch, jail, warehouse and tower of the clock. It conserves the original bell of 1752. It emphasizes the Baroque door with a heavy molding with ears and arc splayed with an inscription with the Cross of the Victory. In the superior part it has a sun clock. It was recovered in 1987 and the surroundings of the seat in 1998. Luanco, located between Candás and Avilés, to few kilometers of the Cabo de Peñas, that it constitutes the most northern point of the Principado. It was mainly fishing village, although at the moment it tends to be developed more the tourism. During the War of Spanish Independence the French will occupy Luanco in 1.809 and 1.811 having caused serious damages in the village. During the Spanish Civil War it underwent the blockade of the national army by sea, from the summer of 1936, and lived the evacuation in October on 1937 of the Government of Asturias and the most of the Republican Army of the North, along with other ports between Gijón and Avilés, decreed by Belarmino Tomás. From 1948 it tells on the Marine Museum of Asturias that is dedicated to the collection, cataloguing, conservation, study and exhibition of all type of materials and documents related to the marine activity.
