Cathedral of Lipa The Parish of Lipa was administered by the Augustinians from 1605 to the end of 19th century. Lipa, which was formerly on the shore of Bombon Lake, was destroyed by the eruption of Taal Volcano in 1754, but was reconstructed on the present site. This church was built under the supervision of the Rev. Benito Varas, OSA, parish priest from 1865 to 1894. The Diocese of Lipa was created by Pope Pius X on April 10, 1910. Lipa Cathedral is the seat of Archdiocese of Lipa, and originally built in honor of St. Sebastian, feast day is January 20th.

No ball? No problem. Every day the neighborhood boys play for hours with not much more than their flip flops. It makes you laugh when your own kid, rich with electronic gadgets, books and various toys, says she's bored and can't find anything fun to do.

Tricycles are essentially provincial taxis in the Philippines. You can take one anywhere, but you better not expect to breathe clean air during the ride. You're at tailpipe level, and emissions standards don't seem to be very strict in the islands.

I used two photos and four layers in Photoshop to create this image. The bottom layer is a color gradient only. The sky was shot from the 747 carrying me across the Pacific, and those are the outlying islands of the Philippines down there.
