Camden Hills State Park is located in the Megunticook Mountain Range on the shore of Penobscot Bay. Recognizing the special features of this area, the National Park Service acquired nearly 5,000 acres of this range in the 1930's. In cooperation with the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Park Service built the Camden Hills Recreation Development Area during the late 1930's and early 1940's. Since 1947, the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands has administered the area now known as Camden Hills State Park, one of Maine's most popular parks. travel.yahoo.com/p-parks-217011-camden_hills_state_park-i

From the French Cemetery, Lincolnville, Maine. This was one of the most beautiful and poignant cemeteries I've ever visited. It's on a bluff overlooking Penobscot Bay, the waters in which undoubtedly claimed some of its residents. Several of the gravestones included brief details about the demise of the interred. We read many crushingly short epitaphs about mothers buried with infants and young sailors whose remains were buried at sea. The full text of this tombstone read: Wyman, son of Capt. Eben & Jane Collemer was drowned by the upsetting of a boat while weighing Anchor Nov. 22, 1851, [aged] 22 yrs. 3 mo's. In the midst of life we are in death.

Ducktrap Harbor

The beautiful scene of Ducktrap Harbor in Lincolnville, Maine. The harbor is named because it used to be ringed by giant oaks, which made it difficult for ducks to gain enough altitude to escape.
