A Piece of Amara

A Piece of Amara
Made by winks211
Derived from the Spanish word that means mooring rope used to anchor ships at port, Amara connotes home where a family will find safe harbor. To Cebuanos, Amara is the one seaside haven where you can rejuvenate your spirit and the ties that bind your family, where life is renewed by the sea, the surrounding natural environs and a 100-year old lighthouse that beams a guiding light faithfully every night. Amara also incorporates the words “mar”, the sea, and “amar”, love. These are the keystones of the community that will eventually grow in this masterplanned development inspired by resort living. The project is envisaged to provide the ideal resort-inspired residential enclave where residents can nurture relationships with family, neighbors and friends. Families can enjoy a rustic, seaside ambiance while the well-planned features and amenities ensure comfortable living. AMARA is a high-end seaside residential community. It is located at Catarman, Liloan, Cebu, Philippines

Again, it’s work. I woke up at 4AM, took a quick bath and headed off to our meeting point. By 4:30AM, we were on our way to a beach in Compostela, some 22 kilometers from the City. We need to inspect some seaweed seedlings and low tide was early in the morning. However, at sunrise time of 5:29AM, the sun turned shy and did not show its resplendent self. A few minutes later, daylight became more pronounced and the glimpses of the sun could be seen coming out of the horizon. at Compostela, Cebu, the Philippines more Compostela sunrise shots in colloidfarl.blogspot.com/

There are only a lighthouses in Cebu. The tallest and oldest is this 100-year old regal beauty in Liloan, about 30 kilometers from the city. Getting a new take of this oft-photographed lighthouse was the challenge. That there was this horse munching at the weeds was fortunate. She was a rather curious fellow as she kept on approaching me as if I was nutrition. at the Bagacay Lighthouse, Liloan, North Cebu, the Philippines more pics and journeys in colloidfarl.blogspot.com/

Parola is located in Bagacay Point, Barangay Catarman, Lilo-an, Cebu. After many months of procrastination, I finally found the time to visit this wonderful Cebu landmark. It was drizzling when I left home but when I reached Bagacay Point around 1pm, the skies cleared up and the sunlight shone through (it's my first time to visit this place). Fortunately, I was able to bring along my beloved Nikon D40 and kitlens with Hoya R72 IR filter. Settings: Exposure Time = 0.8 sec F Number = F11 ISO Speed Ratings = 200 Focal Length = 18mm

This lighthouse ruins is about 7 meters from the coast and 250 meters from the modern (which is inland). To show its size, I was forced to include myself in this image. To go here, hiking shoes & longpants are a must. There's no clear path and be careful of multiple cave holes in the ground (!!!). I used my tripod as walking stick in this trek. The island of Lapu-lapu can be seen from this point. Settings: Exposure Time = 1 sec F Number = F11 ISO Speed Ratings = 200 Focal Length = 18mm

As it no longer was dark, we eagerly had breakfast. Menu was simple- fish fillet wrapped in aluminum foil and grilled over charcoal. A few peppercorns, stalks of lemongrass and tomatoes were the only spices. Served piping hot, it was heavenly. at Compostela, Cebu, the Philippines more Compostela sunrise shots in colloidfarl.blogspot.com/

One of the things I always look forward to when going to Cebu for our quarterly vacation is spending time with former school chums. This time was extra special since it was a mix of my high school and college school mates. A day at a beach house was the plan but as usual, last minute planning on what food to bring. So here's what each group brought. I just love them, by the way. So pinoy, so yummy! Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, !!! The main photo is the famous liempo from Andok's.

Destruction is Almost There

Destruction is Almost There

Bagacay Point, where one of the most significant historical structures of Cebu is located -- the century old lighthouse. Development -- synonymous to destruction these days -- is almost catching up on this area's significance and spectacular view. But who cares. These days, no matter how you think of it, the worst plague is here to stay -- greed, selfishness, and overpopulation. Mankind is mankinds worst enemy. Bagacay Point, Lilo-an, Cebu Philippines

Flickr - Cebu/Sugbo just turned 1 year old and together with 5 other flicker members, we chased a sunrise in Liloan. Originally from 3 RAW photos (converted to TIFFS, 8-bit), these were stacked together and portions of the sea and sky were erased to reveal the underlying layer. A really very tedious process. I tried merging these to HDR but the result was just not satisfactory. Liloan, Cebu, Philippines www.estanli.net
