Omdat ik toch in de sferen zit.... nog een Ludmilla in Nederland. Op 22 mei 1993 reed de laatste Hoek-Warzawa Expres, tussen Utrecht en Hoek van Holland met de 234 440, wel al vernummerd (ex DR 132 440) maar nog met DR-opschriften. De dag erna zou de loc de eerste nieuwe trein vanaf Amsterdam richting het oosten rijden die de Hoek-Warzawa Expres verving. In de tussentijd werd de loc gebruikt voor een rondrit door Nederland. Ik mocht of kon niet mee, maar gelukkig kwam de loc in de buurt. Eerst 's ochtends toen de Hoek Warzawa trein werd overgenomen in Utrecht (zie ) en 's middags met de rondrit, hier gefotografeerd te Vleuten. Wat op de neus wappert is de anti-illegale achtervolgers vlag;-) De geschiedenis is verder wel bekend: nadat dit al een sensatie was, kwamen meerdere locs van dit type in 1995 met omgeleide Berlijntreinen naar Nederland. Een paar jaar later reden enkele tot BR 241 aangepaste locs in de goederendienst en nog wat later had Railion Nederland zelfs een stel van die locs in dienst en werden ze pas echt 'gewoon'. Inmiddels zijn ze weer verdwenen, maar voorgoed?? (dia)

A quite unique McDonald's restaurant concept located in a parking facility of shopping mall The Wall in the suburb Leidsche Rijn. This shopping mall is integrated in a giant noise protection wall along the A2 highway from Amsterdam to Maastricht. The Drive-Thru is accessible through the parking garage. Annoying fact for this Drive-Thru is that you need to enter the garage by taking a card to open the barrier and this card will be exchanged for a free leaving card when using the drive-thru of McDonald's. Together with The Wall and the cockpit-building of Hessing, the Facet Office (Mediq headquarters) is part of the noise barrier along the highway A2 for Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht. Designed by architects Aat van Tilburg and Marc Ibelings of Van Tilburg Ibelings von Behr Architects. --- in Dutch --- Samen met The Wall en het cockpit-gebouw van Hessing maakt het gebouw Facet (hoofdkantoor van Mediq) deel uit van de geluidswal langs de snelweg A2 voor Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht. In januari 1994 startte er vuilafvoer vanaf mijn toenmalige woonplaats Maarssen naar de VAM in Wijster. De nieuwe laadplaats langs de hoofdbaan was nog niet gereed, zodat de eerste weken werd gelost en geladen vanaf de losweg langs de Atoomweg op industrieterrein Lage Weide. Hierdoor kwamen er dagelijks weer treinen op een stuk van dit raccordement dat al jaren stil lag. Het was me een dure bedoeling; er konden maar twee wagens tegelijk behandeld worden, dus er was continu een loc aanwezig om uit te wisselen. Hier kruist de 6436 de Atoomweg met twee nieuwe wagens. Het volume van deze trein zou later sterk terugvallen en uiteindelijk zou dit afvalcontract verdwijnen. (dia)

Afgelopen winter was ik 1 van de getroffen mensen door het winterweer. Waar er s'ochtends wel sneeuwval was voorspeld maar geen hevige ging ik met opgeheven hoofd naar Vleuten om iemand te bezoeken. Echter toen ik terug wou gaan zag ik voor mij de laatste trein van die dag bleek achteraf. De volgende dag wel geprobeerd naar huis te gaan maar verder dan Utrecht Centraal kwam ik niet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The last winter in Holland was a hard one. For 2 days the traintraffic was stopped. The picture show the last train of that day, so I was stuck in Vleuten for 2 days.

Hessing, Utrecht, The Netherlands As I'm new to editing with Photoshop, I'm trying really hard to get the hang of the software. In this shot, I got rid of an anoying reel and cable at the leftside of the car and I recreated the passengerside of the interior due to the fact that there originally was a card on the windshield with the specs of the car for possible customers. I know it probably could have been done a lot better but I'm kind of proud that I've come so far in just a few days. Please let me know what you think of the shot and editing!

This is an idea I have had for a while: diptychs including a view to the left and a view to the right from the same spot. Another one would be: houses and their views. I decided to call it a Janus view, looking in two directions at the same time. Hier liep ik al een tijdje mee rond: tweeluiken met het linker- en het rechteruitzicht van dezelfde plek. Een andere idee in hetzelfde genre: huizen met hun uitzichten. Ik noem ze Janusblikken: tegelijkertijd twee kanten opkijkend.

The Drive-Thru of is located in the parking structure of a shopping mall. This shopping mall is situated right next to the highway A1 and called The Wall due to the fact that the whole building is built as a mega noise reduction wall. The entrance and exit procedure by car makes this Drive-Thru a bit of a threshold to use but you get a ticket to leave the parking for free when using the McDonald's Drive-Thru. Hessing, Utrecht, The Netherlands When we arrived at Hessing we saw several cars parked outside, including several Maserati's and Bentley's. Some of them were covered with a blanket of snow, such as a Maserati GranTurismo S and this beautiful Lamborghini Gallardo. I really like the colour combination of black body, black rims and yellow brakecallipers on this car, even though half of the car is hidden beneath the snow, it still does look amazing to me!

Voordat er afgelopen maandag een goederentrein ontspoorde.... When I took this picture last week, I couldn't suspect that yesterday morning a goods-train would run off the rails at the very same spot, causing a shower of stones for at least five kilometres and seriously damaging rails, platforms, cars that were parked nearby and the windows of a passing train. The place doesn't look as pristine anymore as it does in this picture!

Hessing, Utrecht, The Netherlands A Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder in the rare colour Verde Scandal. I'm very glad to get to working with Photoshop and re-edited this shot. I love the colour and angle here, the location is pretty clean so I just removed a few distracting reflections (like the major one's aren't), removed the card with specifications of the car on the windshield and cleaned the tiles a bit.

Momenteel rijdt een plan T door Nederland in een speciale beschildering ter gelegenheid van 65 jaar vrijheid. Vijftien jaar geleden werd iets dergelijks uitgehaald met Hondekop 763, net als de 520 in de laatste weken van zijn actieve bestaan. De 763 was gedurende enkele maanden te zien op stations door heel Nederland en reed op 5 mei 1995, de dag dat Nederland 50 jaar bevrijd was, een rondrit door het land. Hier stormt het stel door Vleuten, op weg naar Utrecht. (dia)

In 1997 startte een proef met een korte containershuttle van - ik dacht, maar verbeter me als je meer weet - Almelo naar de Rotterdamse haven. De trein was geen succes en heeft maar kort gereden. Opvallend was, buiten de ook voor die tijd al bescheiden lengte, het gebruik van wat oudere wagens en zo ontstaat een beetje het beeld van een containertrein uit de begintijd ervan. Trekkracht is loc 1621, die later bij ACTS terecht zou komen. (dia)

Nóg maar eens een mooi plaatje van een enkele plan V, het blijft mooi - zeker toen ze er over het algemeen zo goed uitzagen als deze 848, op weg van Leiden naar Utrecht. Verminderd ouderhoud, slechtere verf en/of andere wasmethodes en allerlei aanpassingen als gele koppelingbeschermkappen, koppelingbeschermkaphouders (3x woordwaarde) en dichtgeplakte zijruitjes zouden het uiterlijk in de jaren negentig behoorlijk aantasten. Omdat niet alle wagens de loods in konden was Captrain hier nog niet klaar. Het deel wat nu nog buiten staat werd even later weer naar het Emplacement te Lage Weide gereden. Terwijl de wagens die binnen staan van hun papier belading worden ontdaan zal de loc weer los richting Rotterdam rijden. 29 december 2010. 2010 vloog weer om als een TGV, dit was dan ook mijn laatste bijdrage. Happy new year! And good luck in 2011 :-)
