2/365 Vishnu Paddle Boarding

2/365 Vishnu Paddle Boarding
Made by ganesha.isis
January 2, 2010 I didn't take this picture today (took it yesterday), but i decided to use it for today's photo because me and Vishnu had a lot of fun paddling out together on that single paddle board. We managed to get out all the way to the second island right behind Vishnu's arm in this photo. I think it was about a mile out. We spotted two turtles on our adventure, when we arrived to the small sandy area we found that there were waves coming from either side of us and crashing perpendicular to the island, something I've never seen before. There was an abundant reef with many snorkelers and people on boats/kayaks/paddle boards some of which were surfing the waves. We decided to try surfing a wave with us both on the paddle board, but turning in the right direction was hard b/c we had limited time to get facing the right way before a wave would come. we ended up riding a calmer wave onto the island. We walked around a little before attempting to get back into the water, it was hard because the waves coming from both sides of the beach & would crash together in the middle, so again we had limited time to get out before waves came crashing into us, unfortunately we weren't quick enough so a wave came and knocked us over. HA. but we eventually made it and we were on our way back when we found a coconut floating in the middle of the ocean which we grabbed and brought back to shore. It was a lot of fun and a great day to start off the new year! By Ganesha Balunsat follow me on twitter: twitter.com/GaneshaIsis

Coming in at #5 from Top 10 Beaches by National Geographic travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/top-10/beaches/ Lanikai Beach, Hawaii Half a mile of sparkling sand, palm trees swaying over a white beach, lush tropical plants, and endless sunshine make Lanikai one of Hawaii’s most scenic beaches. The shore is protected by a nearby coral reef, which keeps the surf relatively calm. The water is always deep green and postcard-perfect. I really enjoyed myself here and by the way, this is now my favorite beach. Fine silky sand, Friendly people and animals, crystal clear water and the children just love it.

Katherine and I took Spike up the pillbox hike today. Usually he waits for us or circles back to find us when we are slow. We got to the bottom expecting him to be waiting for us but he wasn't there. We had stopped to chat with some other hikers and he must have gone off trail. We searched and searched and went through the neighboring streets calling. I went back up the trail calling. Just when I was about to panic Katherine found him on the trail. He must have been going higher and higher looking for us. He has been sleeping since we got home, poor guy is exhausted.

365 Days of iPhoneography : Today was Friday. A very good day. Rox hopped over to Maui last night and today we: 1. Put several coats of clean white paint on the studio walls and part of the floor. 2. Looked at THE perfect house for us to rent in Haiku which included an orchard of different citrus trees, each one heavy with fr ... 365.shanerobinson.com/7365-fruitful-friday

First night shoot w/ my new full frame 5D & 17-40 f4 lens, and all I can say is wow!!! Super low noise(compared to my 7D), and pretty sharp for no cable release yet. Some of these were shot at 800 ISO just to test the noise level, and from f4-f9, it was too dark to get proper exposures with it shut down anymore and I still had pretty good front to back sharpness. Even at higher ISO's the blacks are BLACK :D....SO HAPPY!! :D

The Greatest Sign On Earth

The Greatest Sign On Earth

Lucy dragged me down to this place and touted this sign as some sort of Disneyland-like attraction that every tourist just has to see. I explained I wasn't a tourist. I was merely happening through an unexplored area of the State I live within. Anyway, she insisted I take this photograph. I always do what I'm told. Stupid sign doesn't even light up, or anything.

These photos are taken from a sailboat skippered by a sailor with a death wish the way he sails. He has turtled one sailboat, lost 2 masts, 1 rudder and an outboard motor in my sailing trips with him. But he has never lost a cooler. notice the aircraft landing at the Naval Air Station in the rear. recropped for 2010 Adding whimsy for all.

sunbset on a rainy day at the KYC. By-the-by, my only intention for my comments on my plasticized art was to say there is a plan there. If i offended anyone but my wife, that was not my intention. I am still perfecting the medium before i can get to the large. Don't hate me because i am beautiful- (whose quote is that?)

Lanikai, O'ahu. He said he fell at the very end of the pillbox trail. Believable, it is slippery when dry and dusty, I can imagine how bad it would have been after a brief morning cloudburst. My girls spotted 95 blows in one of the half hours. Wow! This is one of 26 sites used for the Sanctuary Ocean Count on O'ahu.

Lanikai Beach (of Kailua) Honolulu, Hawaii The wind is always blowing there, I don't know why. And it is some of the FINEST sand in Hawaii, at least. I won't go back there for a while with a camera. What was I thinking?! Think I shot this with Kodak Portra 160 NC Sigma 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6

Nice hike to the top. A vertical camera panorama stitch of 10 images. The curved horizon on the left bothers me a bit but oh well....not sure where it came from. Just before the sun hid behind the Ko'olau cloud bank. Pressing L helps a bit. Stitched in PSE8 Slider adjusted in Aperture 3.

Seeing children play especially with animals give me an inner peace and glimpse of how our future will be. Since I didn't have any long lenses, I had to stay close enough to get these two tugging at each other along the shore. I had so much fun shooting them.
