Second Rest Stop
Made by Austin Henry
At the Lake Helen-Mckenzie campsite (4 Km), we stopped for a rest, while we contemplated pushing on to Kwai Lake, another 7km down the trail. Eventually, we decided that we were just too tired. That and the ranger said that, on account of this being a long weekend, the Kwai lake campsite was full of people heading up Mt. Albert Edward. This was the rock outcrop where meals were cooked, and water was fetched. It made for a scenic little place to rest, too.

Sunset on the rock
Made by Austin Henry
Taken at sunset on one of our first days, this is from the cooking rock at the helen-mckenzie campsite. At this site, there are pit toilets, a food cache (for keeping bears away) and raised wooden platforms for tent-pitching. Luxurious, really :)
