Lake Bled
Lake Bled (Slovenian: ''Blejsko jezero'') is a glacial lake and lies in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, where it adjoins the town of Bled. The area is a popular tourists destination. Bled Castle, overlooking Lake Bled near Kranj, Slovenia. The castle was first mentioned in 1004, which makes it one of the oldest in Slovenia, with its most ancient part being the Romanesque tower. In the Middle Ages more towers were built and the fortifications were improved. Other buildings were additionally constructed during the Baroque period. The buildings are arranged around two courtyards, which are connected with a staircase. There is a chapel on the upper courtyard, which was built in the 16th century, and renovated around 1700, when it was also painted with Illusionist frescoes. Bled is one of Slovenian top-notch tourist places. Very urbanized, high priced and swarming with foreign tourists. Not my kind of place at all (that's why I haven't posted any pic like this by now). But to each hir own I guess... Luckily there are still many places in Slovenia where the nature and people aren't as spoiled with the drive for profit (either with tourist or some other business).
