This is taken at dusk at Lake Lagunita on the Stanford University campus. This is an HDR image. To get this range of color and great lighting in low light I took three successive images while the camera was on the tripod. I took one at normal exposure, one overexposed, and one underexposed. Then you put it into HDR software and put them together and tone map it. With HDR you can go realistic and subtle like this one, or you can go surreal and extremely colorful. I tend to like it when you can't really tell it's an HDR except to notice that the color and light is really nice. I put this one in a competition and the judge told me to crop out some stuff that used to be on the right. She was definitely right, and I am going to resubmit this version later.
