The Gursky exhibition opened this weekend in Basel. Being a huge fan I was there first thing in the morning. It was still pleasingly empty and I was completely astonished by these huge fine detail photographs (usually about 2m*3m in size). So I thought this fine detail work can only be improved by taking a photo of it with the camera of my mobile phone... Yet the result is of a surprisingly good quality. Can anyone tell me something about this work: Cathedral? I read that the shot of the window was put into a virtually created room. Should that be true I would be a bit dissapointed as up to now I thought that all his work is really photographed (the digital remastering limited to stiching and colorchanges).
